NorthLakes Community Clinic in Oconto is partnering with the Oconto Area Humane Society to host a Gather & Give community event on Wednesday, May 20, from 4:30–6:00 p.m. at the NorthLakes clinic located at 155 Memorial Drive in Oconto. The event is generously sponsored by Molina Healthcare.
The event invites community members to gather together and donate needed pet supplies to support animals at the Oconto Area Humane Society. Anyone is welcome to enjoy the opportunity to meet shelter animals and connect with neighbors and clinic staff. Entertainment will be Merline’s Magic and Blazing Bear Homestead’s mobile petting zoo. Refreshments provided by Wooden Spoon.
NorthLakes encourages participants to bring donations of non-clumping litter and durable pet toys, two items the shelter regularly needs.
“Events like this are a simple way for neighbors to come together and support organizations doing important work in our community,” said Hannah Schad, clinic manager at the Oconto NorthLakes clinic. “The Oconto Area Humane Society does so much for local animals, and we’re excited to help bring attention and support to their efforts while giving people a chance to connect with each other.”
The Oconto Area Humane Society says community support is essential to caring for the animals at the shelter.
“We rely on the generosity of the community to help provide care and comfort for the animals in our shelter,” said Teresa Cina, assistant director of the Oconto Area Humane Society. “Partnering with NorthLakes for this event helps raise awareness and provides supplies that directly benefit the animals waiting for their forever homes.”
The event is part of NorthLakes Community Clinic’s broader “Gather & Give” initiative, which brings communities together at clinic locations across northern Wisconsin to support local nonprofits and strengthen community connections.
“Social connection is an important health need, and we want to be a place that promotes connection and community,” said Ana Tochterman, CEO of NorthLakes Community Clinic. “Gather & Give lets us bring people together around something meaningful — supporting local organizations that are doing good work right here at home.”
Those who cannot attend the May 20 event can still participate by dropping off donations of non-clumping litter or durable pet toys at the NorthLakes Oconto clinic between May 1 and May 20, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
