100 Who Care Ashland & Bayfield Co.
At the September 2026 NorthLakes 100 Who Care event, members of 100 Who Care Ashland & Bayfield Counties selected Northern Lights Services to receive $14,000 in a collective donation. The two finalist organizations, The BRICK Ministries and Free Wisconsin, each received $1,780 from the Edward O. Bufkin Jr. Fund, provided by Washburn member Shari Nelson in honor of her father.
Northern Lights Services enriches the lives of nursing facility residents through physical activity, mental stimulation, psychosocial well-being and meaningful experiences. Their programs engage all five senses — touch, smell, taste, sight and sound — helping to spark memories, strengthen connections and bring joy to older adults.
With the funds awarded through 100 Who Care, Northern Lights plans to enhance resident experiences through the creation of a baking corner, the purchase of outdoor patio furniture, an upgraded entertainment system, SingFit music programming, robotic companion pets, puzzle tables and interactive games. These additions will provide opportunities for engagement, comfort, and connection for senior citizens who have cared for, served, supported and inspired our communities throughout their lives.
The 100 Who Care program reflects NorthLakes’ vision of creating healthy, prosperous and engaged communities where everyone thrives. While NorthLakes may not have the capacity to directly provide all the services offered by local nonprofit organizations, we recognize that the health and well-being of our patients and communities are strengthened by their work. By bringing community members together to support local nonprofits, 100 Who Care helps ensure that organizations like Northern Lights Services have the resources needed to make a lasting impact across Ashland and Bayfield Counties.
Since its inception, NorthLakes 100 Who Care has demonstrated the power of collective giving, enabling individuals to combine their contributions and make meaningful investments in the organizations that strengthen and support our local communities. The 100 Who Care Ashland & Bayfield Counties have donated over $193,000 to their member-chosen organizations.
