Hurley, Wisconsin—Thanks to a generous grant from the Delta Dental of Wisconsin Foundation, NorthLakes Community Clinic – Hurley will begin offering dental services in June.
Earlier this year, the Delta Dental of Wisconsin Foundation awarded NorthLakes with a grant to support the provision of dental services in Hurley as part of their effort to improve access to dental care in rural Wisconsin. The grant provides funding to purchase equipment for three operatories within the new building.
“Access to dental care in rural areas is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain,” said Ann Boson, Executive Director of the Delta Dental of Wisconsin Foundation. “ Providing this grant, in addition to co-funding the state’s school-based Seal-A-Smile program, is another way we can fulfill our mission of extending access to dental care for Hurley-area residents.”
NorthLakes operates the largest school-based preventive dental program in the state, providing services to more than 16,000 children each year to prevent cavities. The clinic in Hurley will be an excellent resource for referral for additional oral health care needed.
“Early on, we identified dental services for uninsured and BadgerCare recipients as an unmet need in the Hurley area,” NLCC CEO Reba Rice says. “We are so grateful to the Delta Dental of Wisconsin Foundation for their on-going support to help us expand access to dental care for everyone.”
Joining the NorthLakes’ team to provide these services is long-time local dentist Dr. Paul Hagemann. Dr. Hagemann will begin seeing patients in early June, with a primary focus on BadgerCare and uninsured patients that are eligible for NorthLakes’ sliding fee scale. Due to COVID-19, there will be some limitations on what procedures will be offered. In addition to dental services, the Hurley clinic offers chiropractic care and behavioral health services. Please note that in May, the clinic did move to a larger location at 115 5th Avenue North. If you are interested in learning more about these services or scheduling an appointment, please call (715) 329-1288 or (888) 834-4551.
NorthLakes is also accepting donations to assist with clinic renovations and some of the unanticipated costs associated with COVID-19. As a safety-net clinic, every dollar donated is an investment in improving the overall health of Hurley.
