Lakewood, Wisconsin – NorthLakes Community Clinic is pleased to announce that Betty Thunder, LCSW, MSW, CSAC, will be joining the Lakewood Clinic. She will be offering Behavioral Health therapy to the Lakewood Community. She will be seeing school age children, adolescents and adults in the clinic and students in the Wabeno and Crandon School District.
Betty holds a master’s degree in social work and brings over twenty-five years of experience to NorthLakes. Prior to joining NorthLakes she was a substance abuse/mental health therapist at Marshfield Clinic Family Health Center. She was drawn to clinical social work because “as a person with a natural inclination to be a helper, it was a natural choice for me.”
She blends person-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral and rational emotive therapy and includes breathing techniques that she knows from being a certified yoga instructor. “It teaches the kids to have a better internal focus of control.”
In her career Betty has supervised staff members and professionals as well as starting new programs such as tele-psychiatry and overseen state certifications and policies and procedures to be compliant with Wisconsin State Statutes.
Outside of her work Betty enjoys being outdoors, either tending her gardens or bicycling, walking or snowshoeing, and being a grandmother to a 9-month-old and a 12-year-old.
