Eau Claire, Wisconsin – The recent expansion of staff and services at NorthLakes Community Clinic’s Clairemont Avenue location has been significantly bolstered by a $100,000 grant from the Otto Bremer Trust (OBT), which was awarded to NorthLakes in July 2024. The support from the OBT has been crucial in strengthening the clinic’s ability to provide comprehensive healthcare services to underserved populations in the Chippewa Valley.
Earlier this year, sudden departures from major healthcare providers throughout the Eau Claire market left a significant gap in care for many residents. NorthLakes Community Clinic quickly stepped in to fill the void, and now, its Eau Claire – Clairemont Avenue Clinic offers a range of essential services, including Behavioral Health, Chiropractic, Dental, Medical and Recovery.
“During such a critical time, the Otto Bremer Trust’s support is instrumental in allowing our team to provide high-quality care and meet the needs of our Eau Claire community,” said Reba Rice, CEO of NorthLakes Community Clinic.
NorthLakes invested over $2 million this past spring to secure a facility for their Eau Claire service expansion and immediately launched recruitment efforts to grow its staff as needed.
As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), NorthLakes is dedicated to serving populations that face barriers to accessing healthcare. The organization’s expansion in Eau Claire will result in an estimated 13,000 visits throughout its first full year of operation, with more than 70% of these visits expected to serve patients on Medicaid, Medicare or those who qualify for the clinic’s Sliding Fee Scale.
Rice added, “The OBT grant is not just a financial contribution; it’s a partnership in our shared vision of a healthier, more equitable community.”
