Iron River, Wisconsin—Thanks to a Telemedicine Grant from the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, the Iron River Clinic recently purchased a new X-ray machine. Installed in October, the state-of-the-art equipment is valued at $96,000.
The new equipment is digital, which allows patients to receive immediate, on-site, affordable X-ray services. For many, this equipment also saves traveling long distances and allows patients to take care of multiple medical appointments in one day under the same roof. The increased storage capacity of the equipment additionally allows providers across seven NLCC locations and multiple service lines to access X-rays and collaborate in coordinating patient plans.
Prior to the installation of the new equipment, the X-ray room also received a makeover which included a new paint job, improved patient changing space, new floors, and wider doorways so it is easier for wheelchair users to enter and exit the room. NLCC staff and patients alike are very happy with the new X-ray machine. NorthLakes CEO Reba Rice stated, “We are grateful to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission for making this purchase possible and helping us achieve our mission of providing integrated services and removing barriers to wellness.”
