Professional Interests:
Ben’s professional interests are; attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), video game/Internet use disorder, substance use issues, grief, anxiety, depression, and family communication issues. Ben leans toward a Person-Centered approach to therapy; utilizing interventions based in cognitive behavior therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and mindfulness.
Personal Interests:
When not at work, Ben enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 wonderful children. They watch movies, play video games, play tabletop games, and yard games. They also enjoy dining out at restaurants and spending time around the fire pit, which he says has led to some great conversations about the many facets of life.
Patient advice:
Mental health therapy is a collaboration between the therapist and the patient. The patient sets the goals, and the therapist provides the knowledge and expertise on how to best work towards those goals. There is a significant benefit to the patient having an idea of what they would like to work on and what they would like their life to be once their goals have been reached.
