Wahlquist brings specialized expertise in pediatric occupational therapy, holding a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. Her professional interests span all areas of pediatrics, including sensory integration, autism, ADHD/ADD, mental health, and motor functioning.
“I hope patients will come ready to play and explore,” said Wahlquist. “I want to make therapy an engaging and comfortable experience for every child.” Her philosophy emphasizes client-centered, goal-driven care where therapy becomes a collaborative experience between therapist, child, and family.
Pediatric occupational therapy can help children gain independence and develop, improve, or recover essential skills needed for daily tasks. Services can address a wide range of needs, including developmental milestones, fine motor skills, sensory processing, activities of daily living, social skills, and emotional regulation.
“The return of pediatric occupational therapy services strengthens NorthLakes’ commitment to providing comprehensive healthcare for children and families in the Hayward area,” said NorthLakes CEO Ana Tochterman. “Together with the child’s home support network, therapists work to improve their overall independence through engaging, play-based interventions.”
