Professional Interests:
Sean enjoys providing therapy to youth and adults with co-occurring mental health and pervasive developmental disorders (Autism). Sean also is trained to work with PTSD patients from a Sensorimotor Psychotherapy approach. He is also a member of two groups: Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers, and Association of Behavioral And Cognitive Therapies.
Personal Interests:
When Sean is not working he enjoys; raising his two sons, rock climbing, mountain biking and competing in triathlons.
Patient advice:
a. Patients seeking an Autism Diagnosis should be prepared for a semi-structured interview process that takes 3 sessions. The outcome of the assessment will determine if you need additional testing, have a clear case of autism, or do not have autism but rather a similar mental health condition that appears like autism symptomology. I use the Autism Mental Status Exam and Autism Diagnostic Interview Scale Revised to assess for the presence of ASD. This is billed as a form of Psychometric Testing.
b. Those seeking therapy for their children should expect to be involved in treatment. Family is an essential ingredient to psychotherapy success.
c. I frequently support parents with psychotherapy groups. Consider asking our PSR today if you feel that you might fit this category.
