Mental health therapy is a collaboration between the therapist and the patient. The patient sets the goals, and the therapist provides the knowledge and expertise on how to best work towards those goals. There is a significant benefit to the patient having an idea of what they would like to work on and what they would like their life to be once their goals have been reached.
