(Oconto, Wisconsin) – NorthLakes Community Clinic (NLCC) is excited to announce it has broken ground on a new $2.6 million clinic in Oconto. The clinic will be located next to Bellin Hospital on a parcel of land that was previously part of the hospital campus. The clinic is slated to open in early 2025.
IEI Contractors has been selected for the 10,000 square-foot build. Construction should be completed by January, 2025 with the new clinic opening soon after. The new clinic allows for additional dental space, along with offering new services. NorthLakes anticipates adding Behavioral Health, Chiropractic Care, Optometry and additional Patient Supports, pending recruitment efforts.
The expansion is an opportunity to further meet the needs of area residents. “We know that mental health needs are severely underserved in Oconto County,” said NorthLakes CEO Reba Rice. “We hope by adding additional Behavioral Health providers, along with staff who can help address some of the social drivers of health that impact health outcomes, we can begin addressing this need.”
Currently, NorthLakes provides Dental care, primarily for Medicaid and uninsured patients, out of Bellin Hospital in Oconto. For the past few years it has explored expansion but struggled to find land in Oconto that would accommodate its needs. This purchase allows the hospital to regain some much-needed space due to NorthLakes moving out while also allowing NorthLakes to provide additional services in the community.
“This sale and NorthLakes’ plans are a definite win-win for the people of Oconto County,” said Julie Bieber, Vice President, Bellin Health Oconto Hospital. “Bellin and NorthLakes are committed to meeting the multifaceted healthcare needs of our communities, and this transaction underscores our commitment to working together toward that critical goal.”
