Northlakes Community Clinic – Oconto is happy to announce that Joshua Simpson, DMD has joined the team providing dental services. Dr. Simpson has returned to Wisconsin where he was raised after living and working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr. Simpson will be seeing patients of all ages.
Dr. Simpson earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his General Practice Residency at St. Luke’s University Health Network in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Prior to joining NorthLakes, Dr. Simpson provided care at Philadelphia FIGHT Family Dentistry and Lansdale Family Dentistry in Landsdale, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Simpson doesn’t take this position lightly, “I am dedicated to providing patient centered, culturally competent care. I am passionate about addressing unique patient needs and barriers to care, specifically by using oral health literacy and patient education as a vehicle to create long term change in patient populations. A lot of my initial interest in dentistry developed from my relationship with family friend and dentist Jack DeWolf. Jack grew up in Philadelphia, attended Penn Dental as a NHSC Scholar, and competed his service commitment at the Lakewood clinic location. He also served at the same clinic location as the dental director later in his career. There are a lot of obvious parallels with my path in dentistry, and those were all very much inspired by discussions with him.”
After spending many years living in city apartments, Simpson and his family are excited about living in a house with a yard and a driveway. He enjoys a wide range of outdoor activities including running, biking, hiking, skiing, and skateboarding. “In Philadelphia I commuted to work each day via longboard, but unfortunately I think Oconto will a bit out of range to do that from Green Bay.”
