Eau Claire, Wisconsin – Joining the area’s healthcare workforce as a Community Health Worker for NorthLakes Community Clinic, Alayna Wier is now serving patients of the Chippewa Valley region.
The Community Health Worker (CHW) role is designed to bridge gaps between patients’ healthcare goals and the necessary resources to accomplish them. CHWs can collaborate with you to navigate programs and provide information or support.
Bringing both knowledge and passion for community health to her position, Wier is equipped with a strong educational background from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, earning a Bachelor of Science in Applied Social Science and a minor in Disability Services. She has five years of experience working within Disability Services and Community-Supported Living Services.
Wier’s dedication to aiding in the removal of barriers to care and reducing stigmas within the community underscores her commitment to providing high-quality support to Eau Claire.
Her approach to care is firmly grounded in teamwork, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between patients and healthcare providers. Wier empowers people to speak up for themselves. She tries to always encourage them to voice their concerns and seek help if they need it.
When asked about the advice she’d offer to patients, Wier said, “You are your best advocate. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. We are a team and I want to support and connect you with the resources you need.”
Outside of her professional responsibilities, Alayna enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She has a profound love for animals and will happily greet any furry friend she may encounter. Additionally, she is interested in history, reading, art, music, and the great outdoors.
