Two speech-language pathologists join to support children’s development.
NorthLakes Community Clinic announces the launch of specialized pediatric speech therapy services at its Eau Claire Oak Ridge location. The new program features two certified speech-language pathologists dedicated to helping children overcome communication challenges and reach their full potential.
Left to right in the photo, Aubrey Welke, CCC-SLP, and Alyssa Wanner, CCC-SLP, bring extensive expertise in treating a wide range of pediatric speech and language disorders, including speech delays, articulation difficulties, language comprehension and expression, autism-related communication challenges, fluency disorders, apraxia, feeding and swallowing disorders, and augmentative and alternative communication needs.
“We’re thrilled to expand our services,” said Ana Tochterman, CEO of NorthLakes Community Clinic. ” By bringing specialized speech therapy services to NorthLakes, we’re making it easier for families to access the expert care their children need right here in our community.”
Alyssa is certified in supporting oral feeding in fragile infants; she emphasizes a collaborative approach. “I believe in the power of natural interaction — talking, reading, singing, and playing — to build communication skills,” she said. “Working closely with families, we create strategies that fit naturally into everyday routines.”
Aubrey has expertise in autism and fluency disorders and focuses on making therapy engaging and personalized. “Progress happens when therapy is not only evidence-based but also engaging and patient-centered,” she noted. “Every child’s journey is unique, and we celebrate each milestone along the way.”
The program addresses communication challenges affecting children at home, school, and in the community. Services include treatment for learning disabilities, neurological impairments, hearing impairments, sound processing difficulties, and reading comprehension challenges.
