Theresa provides counseling services to individuals and families with a specialty in Filial Therapy and parenting skills. Filial Therapy is a family intervention therapy with children between the ages of three and 12 years of age. Its main focus is strengthening relationships between parent and child. Her primary approach to the treatment of adults and teens is Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and is trained in EMDR therapy and Cinical Hypnosis. Other therapies and approaches may be supplemented to meet people’s individual needs. Theresa has been trained as a generalist and provides services to clients of all ages with interests in treating people who suffer from ADHD, Depression and Anxiety symptoms.
When Theresa is not at work she enjoys the little things life has to offer such as the quiet of early mornings, the first sip of hot coffee, watching the sunlight move through the leaves, and reading a good book. Theresa loves all the seasons, even the dark, cold, snowy winter. She loves mountain biking, dog sledding, skiing, and spending time on or by Lake Superior. Her new interest is in horses and she is loving learning how to care for and ride them.
I look at happiness as a recipe. Therapy is just one ingredient. Much like chocolate chip cookies would not taste good with just flour and baking soda, life is not better just because there is therapy in it. We all have to find what makes life rich and meaningful outside of therapy too. I will encourage and support you in taking action outside of our sessions together. Remember you are not alone. I will try my best to be here for you as you try new things.
